Research collaboration networks (ReCoN) is the object of study of the project Dynamics of Competition and Collaboration  in Science: Individual Strategies, Collaboration Networks, and Organizational Hierarchies conducted at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) at the University of Warsaw.

The overarching goal of the project is to develop an understanding of collaboration and competition in science through an integrated research approach involving:

  1. Rigorous theorizing, including mathematical model building and computer simulations.
  2. In-depth qualitative studies exploring goals, motivations, and strategies of individual scientists.
  3. Large scale quantitative studies of co-authorship networks of Polish scholars using methods of Social Network Analysis.

The  project is financed by a Sonata grant (2012/07/D/HS6/01971) from Polish National Science Centre (NCN).
